Fines, Fees and Community Service

The amounts of fines assessed upon conviction vary. State-mandated fees, in the amount of $29.00, are also assessed on every charge where there is a conviction. Drug- and alcohol-related convictions carry additional fees. While penalty assessments must be paid in full, fines and fees assessed by the judge during an arraignment or trial may often be paid in scheduled installments, by entering into an Agreement to Pay Fines. If payment of your fines presents a financial hardship, it may be possible to complete community service in lieu of making monetary payments. Community service cannot be used for payment of fees. Any approved community service must be performed at a public or non-profit location benefiting the citizens of Hagerman.
